Hillary Fenrich (she/her)

Global Manager: Nature & Water Strategy

Bio

Hillary Fenrich is a recent transplant to Chicago from the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia and very much appreciates the food scene in the city! With a long-standing love for the routine of Saturday mornings spent at farmers markets around the world, she recognizes the value of fresh local food and conversations with farmers as nourishing to the body and the soul.

While not at the Green City Markets, Hillary is likely hiking, salsa-dancing, or reading books that tell the story of food and farmers. She also works at McDonald’s, where she leads the global strategy on forests, biodiversity, and water across commodities. Previously, Hillary worked in policy, leading international public-private partnerships to support resilient agriculture and connecting those in need to local food resources. She also spent many years in the field running biodiversity assessments and teaching visitors about the Amazonian jungle.

But perhaps the most laughter in life came from working the land - rescuing millions of honey bees in California and a stint organic farming in Alaska, where the rumor is the cabbages are bigger than moose! She hopes GCM can bring everyone a taste of that natural goodness.
